Capital of the most populated nation on Earth, Beijing is the host city for the 2008 Summer Olympic Games. The Games, officially known as the Games of the XXIX Olympiad, open on 08.08.08, no doubt arranged in deference to the widely held belief in China that 8 is a very lucky number. Enjoy a virtual taste of this great city, from Tianamen Square to the Forbidden City and the Great Wall itself. |

Host to the 2000 Summer Olympic games (was that really 8 years ago already?), Sydney is all it is hyped up to be. Save a heap of carbon and enjoy some of the sights right here - the iconic Sydney Opera House and Harbour Bridge and the buzzing Rocks district are right in the heart of things. Take a 2 hour drive west into the Blue Mountains for some breathtaking scenery and old world charm. |

Up against Paris, Madrid, Moscow & London, New York lost its bid to host the 2012 Summer Olympic Games. No matter, this is one of the greatest cities on Earth. The energy at street level is palpable but your gaze will always be drawn up to Manhattan's legendary skyscrapers. Enjoy a virtual stroll along Wall St. in the Financial District, then amble up 5th Avenue through SoHo & Midtown into Central Park. |

Cape Town is nestled at the northern end of the Cape Peninsular between the Altlantic Ocean and Table Mountain. Amazingly, there are more than 70 mountain peaks over 1,000 feet within the city limits! Only a quarter of the population speak English as their first language, with most speaking either Afrikaans or Xhosa. Cape Town came 3rd in the race to host the 2004 Summer Olympic Games. |

The Argentine capital is a heady mix of European and Latin strands. The stately Teatro Colón, closed for renovations now until at least 2010, is the second largest of its kind in the Southern Hemisphere. Mourners still make the pilgrimage to Evita’s mausoleum in Recoleta and you can pay your virtual respects here. Buenos Aires has made 4 failed bids to host the Olympic Games. 5th time lucky? |
